Care

Our jewelry is handmade with quality materials. Each piece requires specific care to maintain its beauty over time. Here, we explain how to care for each material to ensure it lasts as long as possible.

925 sterling silver

Silver can darken naturally with use, the passage of time, or contact with air and moisture. To keep your pieces in good condition, it's important to store them in a dry, sealed place, like the cotton bag we include with each piece of jewelry.
Avoid contact with perfumes, creams, chlorine, cleaning products, or humid environments. Store your jewelry separately to prevent scratching and accelerated oxidation.

Gold plated

We use 24K gold plating: 3 microns on the rings and 1.5 microns on the rest of the pieces. The plating is a thin layer that can fade with use and time, especially if the piece is in frequent contact with the skin.
To extend their lifespan, avoid water, perfumes, creams, and contact with other items. Store them separately and remove them before sleeping, showering, or exercising.
If your jewelry loses its plating, we can reapply it to make it look like new. Write to us at hola@rocio-studio.com and we'll give you all the details.

18K gold

18-karat gold is a noble and durable material. It doesn't oxidize or lose its color, making it ideal for pieces worn daily. However, over time, it may show small marks or natural scratches from use.
You can shower with it without any problem, but for best preservation, we recommend avoiding contact with abrasive products such as perfumes, chlorine, or creams. Clean it with a soft cloth or with warm water and mild soap, drying it thoroughly afterward.
In the case of white gold, many pieces are rhodium-plated, which gives a lighter shine. This coating can wear off with use, but it can be easily reapplied to restore the jewelry to its original appearance.

Borosilicate glass

Borosilicate glass is very durable, but not unbreakable. To care for it properly, avoid strong impacts and always store it separately to prevent damage.
If you need to clean it, you can use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.

Natural stones

Natural gemstones can be delicate if not treated carefully. Avoid impact, contact with chemicals, or extreme temperatures, and do not expose them to moisture for prolonged periods.
Always store them separately from other jewelry to avoid scratches or damage.

How to clean your pieces

Oxidation is a natural process in metals. You can prevent it by following the recommended care guidelines for each material, but if your piece has darkened over time, don't worry. Here are some options to restore its shine.

All our jewelry comes with a jewelry cleaning cloth included in the packaging. You can gently rub the surface with it to remove tarnish and restore its original shine.

Another homemade option is to use baking soda. Wrap the piece in aluminum foil with a tablespoon of baking soda and place it in a container. Add hot water and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully remove it, wash it with a little mild soap and a soft brush, and dry it well. You can repeat this process if necessary.

Maintenance service

We offer a cleaning and refinishing service to make your jewelry shine like new again. We can also re-plate it if needed.
